Just occurred to me that February is the only month I can't see working/ or haven't heard of as a name. (well maybe July as well, but it is so close to Julie as makes no difference)
What do you think? What months would you use/do you like as names?

Works well as a name:
January - the least common in this category but I love it.
April - I love, my favorite of these.
May - my least favorite of these.
June - I love.
July - the second least common and my second least favorite.
August - I love for both genders but prefer for a boy.

February - probably the least name-like but I'm not certain.

January - I like it. It's strong without being harsh and it bears the promises of a new year.
February - doesn't sound as good in your mouth as January. Kind of difficult to pronounce. Also makes me think of the word "feverish" (like many children will be in February...).
March - ugh, no. Way too harsh.
April - sweet and spirited.
May - nah. Since it's also a verb, it's not even good in combos. Anna May. Yes, Anna may what?
(The Swedish equivalent Maj is the only month name commonly given as a name in Sweden, although for the moment Maja is much more popular.)
June - OK, but a bit boring and old. The Swedish variant Juni has gained some popularity recently.
July - I prefer name forms like Julie and Julia. July is too close to "you lie".
August - since it's exclusively male in Swedish (the month is Augusti), I think this name sounds weird on females.
September - in theory it's nice, but all I can think of is September 11th.
October - a bit too harsh.
November - although November is the most BORING, GREY, DEPRESSING, RAINY month in my part of Sweden, I do like the combo November Snow. Wouldn't use it for real, though.
December - I like this, too. December Glow and December Rose are beautiful combos. But a bit too weird for a real person, perhaps.

In Italy month-names don't exist as FN.
Aprile could be the only one yes!. But only because Avril and April abroad are quite common so Italy would follow them. But also with these facts Aprile is never used as FN.
Gennaro and Giano were originally from the first month but I think that is not the same think because they are elaborated and they are not the current month-name (Gennaio).
Augusto is the modern for Augustus. But it is the same idea of Giano/Gennaro because the month-name in Italian is 'agosto' not Augusto so...
Finally month-names have no chance here..maybe in the future.

I really like the idea of February but I agree it would be hard to carry out.
I love April, May, and June in different ways.
I like January and September. March could be cool too.
October and November seem trying too hard to sound gothy or whatever. July and December seem forced. August seems trendy.

I can't see February as a name. I'd happily use March, May, June, and August. I know a March, a May, and a December. The others don't really appeal to me.

Where I live, February is a surname. Not widely distributed; back in the day when South Africa was a Dutch colony, slaves used to be imported from the Dutch East Indies (the locals it seems were too intelligent to volunteer as labourers!) and their surnames often related to their month of arrival and/or sale, February and September are the ones I see most often, or to the ship they arrived in.
This would seem to suggest that February etc might appear here as lnfns. I haven't seen any examples, but that isn't to say there might not be some.
I wouldn't use any month names as given names; I don't even enjoy April and June. And though I might use May as a mn, it would be for family reasons and its bearers on both sides of my family tree got the name when flower names were popular, so I'm guessing the plant, not the month.

February has been used as a name three times in the UK, according to the records. They're all female & all have ordinary middle names - am betting at least one of them swapped!

January has a nice sound, but it's a cold gloomy month to be named for. March sounds like a command. Not wild about the others.

You just reminded me of something. I went to a K-12th grade school for middle and high school. In middle school we would help elementary school kids learn to read. One of the years my reading partner was a girl who went by Peaches. Later when she was in middle school I learned that Peaches wasn't just a nn, it was her mn and her fn was July. So her name was July Peaches *Surname*. She hated her name combo and disliked July so she went by Peaches. I felt a bit bad for her. July works as a name but not with a mn like Peaches.

Thank you! A girl I nannied for has a friend named Medi and I could never figure out where it came from. Mom was from the UK so it makes sense. The more you know :)

It doesn't work for me because the month of february is not exactly so pleasant where I live :P It is usually extremely cold and dark, with hardly any snow but a lot of ice cold snow-rain. I mean it's fine and I make the most of it but there are nicer months to name your child after. I also think it's hard to find a nickname for it, Feb and Febbie aren't that great.
I think it's usable but it doesn't work for me personally. March, September, October and November don't work so well either, I would actually put them in the same category as February. March is close to Marge but it's still really hard an unpleasant.
As for the rest:
January - at least in january we get proper snow so I like it better as a month. We also get more sun than in february for some reason. Jannie and Jan are at least very namey even though I don't care for them. This would definitely get shortened a lot to Jan so I would stay away from it if you don't like this rather bland nickname. On the other hand it is a more interesting name to honor a Jan.
April - this month is extremely wet where I live so I don't really care for the name but it definitely works.
May - works well but doesn't excite me, I also like Mae.

None of the months are on my favorites list. I guess May and June would be my favorites.
One a side note.....
I know a family that was going to name their youngest April because she was due in April. But she came early and was born in March. So they decided to name her Autumn instead.
They said it would have been silly to name her April. I replied with any sillier than Autumn born in Spring?

I actually keep wondering if you use a month or season name for a child should they be born in that month or season? Or is that kind of cheesy? Or is it weird that they aren't born in that month or season?
I really am never quite certain how I feel about it.
I do feel that maybe it is partially dependant on how popular the month or season name is like maybe it doesn't matter for names like Autumn, Summer, April, May, June, or August.
