[Opinions] Roscoe
What do you think of the name Roscoe? Seems fresh given increasing usage of Oscar...but is it too out there? To evocative of the artist Rosko?

Sorry everyone - meant to type Rothko as the artist's name! Pregnant and sleepy. But thanks for the helpful feedback!
I know a little Roscoe. I didn't like it when I heard that his parents had chosen it, but it suits him so well and I've come to really like it.
ETA I have no idea who Rosko is

It sounds like a dog name to me.
Only a black guy can pull off Roscoe. It's sexy on a black guy. On a white guy, it's uber hillbilly.
I think it sounds like a comic book hero, and sort of "country". I'm picturing a raccoon character, I don't recall why. The sounds in the name make it sound spunky, rugged, bouncy. (subliminally it has "raw" and "go" in it) It's not like Oscar. It's more like Monty or Brett. There are too many Roscoes for Rosko to have any effect on my feelings about Roscoe.
I think way more people are going to associate the name with Roscoe P. Coltrane from the Dukes of Hazzard TV show/movie than the artist. I have never heard of the artist myself.
In fact, I know somebody who has a pet chinchilla named Roscoe P. Coltrane.
So no, I really don't think it's a good name for a person.

Hmm, I'm not so sure that people of child-bearing age are familiar enough with the Dukes of Hazzard these days for that to be an issue.
the movie was more recent
