[Opinions] Myron
Just watched an episode of Friends and stumbled upon Myron. What do you think of it? It has a long history and interesting meaning. On the show they made fun of how old it sounded but I think it actually sounds sort of trendy.

I've never met or heard of one of any age. I think it's quite handsome.

The first time I saw this name was when I read the Anastasia Krupnik books as a child (a few of them has been translated into Swedish); it's the name of her father. It sounds old and kind of frumpy to me and although I like some names of that kind, I think Myron is too close to moron...

I think you told me about these books before, I love the name Anastasia :D Would you recommend the books or are they only for children? Yes, you are right, I didn't notice this but it is kind of close to the word moron :/

I've only read the first three books, since the others are not translated into Swedish and when I had learned English and it became possible to buy books online, I felt I was too old.
But I think you can enjoy a book for children even if you are a grown-up. I remember the Anastasia books were pretty humoristic and she and her family members are all very lovable.

I like it but not enough to use it. I agree, it does sound more trendy than dated. My brother-in-law Caleb works in a place called that only spelled as Miron I believe. So the name has made me think of that recently. I also like Lyron but I can't stand Byron

I've had it on my list for a while now, but I put it on before I discovered that people think it sounds old. I don't think it sounds old either. I haven't run into enough Myrons to come up with an image of age. Everyone else seems to have run into a lot of them who are old, and see it as really old, but somehow I escaped. There are so many names that are fusty, dusty, powdery, doddering, and creaky, that people think are hip ... they're naming kids Theodore and Jeremiah, but Myron sounds too old? I don't get it. I agree Myron sounds like it should be trendy. Mason, Milo, Elijah, Maia, Lyla, Kylie, Ryder, but not Myron? Now I can't help wondering if maybe they got the idea that it's old from watching "Friends."

One of my favourite profs of all time was named Myron. In a world of stuffed suits and egos, he was so unaffected and genuine- a super chill philosopher jurist who remains as a beacon of kindness and consideration to me, a reminder that the suffering of the weakest is a reflection of the conscience of the most powerful. He taught us Cicero "Legum servi sumus ut liberi esse possimus" and he believed. In a profession where the almighty dollar rules, I keep his words as part of my moral compass. So, you might say I am fond of the name :)
