A (late) relative of my husband's was named Mathilde;the family was primarily French speaking.
She was always called Tildie. Quite nice, I think. I like it better than Matilda.
She had a sister named Antonia, always called, would you believe, Tuna! Perhaps it goes better in French, but I'd never have allowed myself to be called Tuna!
Antonia is such a good name, too.
