[Opinions] Gina
What do you think of Gina? I always thought it was kind of cute. Gina, Luigina or Giorgina, Georgina?

Pretty and nice name.

It's pretty enough, but it seems very Italian to me, even though I guess it really isn't. But it seems so Italian to me that I would never consider using it due to the fact that I have no Italian ancestry.

I don't like Gina, it's hard sounding. I like Georgina, Georgie for short. Prefer the English spelling and I don;t like Luigina at all

I love it! I like as a nn for Virginia, Eugenia, or Georgina.

I prefer Georgina. Gina is actually Swedish slang (or maybe dialectal) for "taking a shortcut"!

I like it, but find it common since I know so many. I quite like Ginette and Regina as full versions. Most of the Ginas I know are named Giannina as it is a family name. Luigina is really cool actually. I would love to see it, but it is pretty culture specific so I would assume the family was Italian or had some link to the name. Giorgina is cute too.

Hi Perrine!!!Sorry but Gina is SO dated!
I know some Gina and all are over 60.After that Gina is a NN so it is not so good for a newborn (or also not good for a younger person generally).I dislike the name Giorgia and all its Italian variant.I actually like Georgiana and Georgette but they are not used here. What about Georgette in France? I like it since I was a child. I think that fits well on a shy, lovely girl who loves nature and forests in particular.

Georgette is so pretty. The connection with beautiful fluttery material is enchanting, and Georgette Heyer is one of my favourite writers so...

I've got good news :)Hi :) Hahaha yes, I thought that it might be really dated in Italy :( In Austria it's kind of 80s/90s, Gina became popular a lot later than in Italy here.Ohhh and I have great news about the French statistics! They have finally, finally been updated! For years you could only see the top 20 lists on the site (from 2012 onwards) and now they finally have top 200 lists from 2013-2016 :) http://www.meilleursprenoms.com/prenoms_tendances/tendances_annee.php?annee=2016Georgette is dated in France :P It was at its most popular in 1920. Most -ette names currently feel dated. For example in the year of 1920, three names ending in -ette made the top 20: Paulette at #8, Odette at #13 and Georgette at #16. This was the big time of the -ette names in France! Also in the top 100 in 1920: Henriette at #21, Yvette at #24, Juliette at #30, Antoinette at #36, Lucette at #56, Colette at #58, Pierrette at #59, Huguette at #73, Josette at #74, Mauricette at #79, Bernadette at #80, Ginette at #85 and Arlette at #98. This trend lasted for quite a while (in the 30s and 40s many of these names were still common) but most of them seem very very dated now. A big big exception is Juliette. It was already common in the 20s but after being uncommon in the 50s and 60s it made quite the comeback!
