[Opinions] Candida?
How do you feel about the name Candida? I know it's a name of an infection and all.. but it sounds pretty to me. Which spelling do you prefer? Candida or Candita. I prefer Candida over Candita. I've known this name for a while but just thought about it a few days ago.

It has a nice sound, but so has Rubella and Yersinia...

I like it, and I don't think of the infection at all. Just of ancient Romans wearing whiter-than-white togas when they ran for office so that the public would get an impression of cleanliness and purity! What puts me off is what also puts me off Candace. Candy is the obvious and probably the only nn available and it would be pretty well inevitable. (Though I was at school with a Candy whose full name it was, and at the start of each school year she'd be interrogated by incredulous teachers demanding proof. Her full names were Candy Mercia Anne, which is memorable.)I'd be happy to consider either one as a mn. I've never seen or heard of Candita, though - where did you find it?

I have a hard time taking it seriously. Even knowing it's the name of several saints and the title of a play, it's too associated with the fungal infection.

I didn't like it before I found out it was a yeast infection

It has a kind of pretty sound, but you can't divorce it from the infection. Even Candita just looks like you know about the infection but think if you change one letter you can get away from it.I like Candace much, much better.

OMG Another Candida lover!I never thought I'd see the day. Do a search for this name. You'll see that I've been on record as loving it. It's even *gasp* on my PNL. I heard "yeast infection", so I began to forestall that by saying, "I know it's a yeast infection."But I must add, because of the yeast infection, it's a GP. I'd never really use it. It's a shame it's ruined by that, because I like it so much.

me tooThere was a girl named Candida at school with me, I thought it was the most beautiful name! Candida wasn't really known or used as the name of an infection outside the medical profession until quite recently, so nobody thought it was a funny name

I love it too......and didn't even know it was the name of a yeast infection until I asked about it on this board :P It's a shame, because were it not for that, it would probably be in my top 5.

It sounds pretty but all I can think of is a yeast infection. I cannot shake that association.
