I think it's cute :) I know a very nice Michiko who would be in her early 30s now. I could be wrong, but I think in Japan it is slightly dated. It made the top 10 a few times in the 1950s.

I guess the equivalent, as in close in sound, would be Michaela? Or maybe Michelle. Michi could be a nickname.
