[Opinions] Cassiopeia
I love the name Cassiopeia, nn Cassie. Do you think that it is usable? What sort of middle name would work? To me, anything else exotic, especially another long name, would kind of "compete" with the first name.

It's sort of usable. I really love it but wouldn't use it.Cassiopeia Magdalene
Cassiopeia June

I want to say it's usable, but I still don't know how to say it. I've had some say Cass-ee-OH-pee-uh and others say it's Cass-ee-oh-PEE-uh and sometimes the 'ee' disappears altogether so it's Cass-oh-PEE-uh. I used to have it on my list, and I love the constellation and mythological connections but I haven't had a definitive answer yet, so I've ignored it for a while. Now I really have to think before saying it, so I wouldn't use it personally, but it'd be cool to hear on someone else's child. I agree as simpler middle would be better. My first thought was Cassiopeia Alice.

Thank you for that. I know what you mean - not an easy one. It feels as though many of us have the name on our lists, but you don't really come across many people who actually use or are called it. Even for a fictional character, because I write realistic, I'm not sure if I would use it. Maybe, but she would have to be mainly known as Cassie, and I can see readers getting frustrated about a long name that they can't necessarily pronounce. Alice is a lovely middle name for it, and I do think that Lucy also fits. Lucy - and Alice, too - are on my favourites list.

I also love the name Delphine: the accent on the second syllable would function perfectly as a middle, maintaining the Greek theme but perfectly reflecting that lovely French Twist.

Delphine - that is another of my absolute favourite names. I adore it. You are definitely feeling my style. Thank you for that. :-)

I love this; for a middle, how about "Chrysothemis" and for a shorter pet form (of a middle name?), Chris - spell it however you like.

I haven't heard that one before, but I love it. I will have to look that one up - thank you.

"Chrysothemis" is the 'normal' sister of Elektra & Orestes -- in Aeschylus' trilogy concerning the Fall of the House of Atreus. I misread your original query which mentioned that another exotic or long name would compete with "Cassiopeia"; I mistakenly read "complete" - sorry. Although I love Chrysothemis, I much prefer Delphine as a middle to Cassiopeia. None will ever forget her lovely name! Sorry again for my misread!
