[Opinions] Hadassah & Tzipporah
WDYT? Both were popular characters in the Old Testament and variants of the names are quite popular in Israel as well. I would never personlly use them despite how much I love them because I am not Jewish. Do you like them?Add: I was also extremely surprised to see that Hadassah ranks #660 in the US!Please vote! http://www.behindthename.com/pnl/174843/112914 & http://www.behindthename.com/pnl/174843/112915

No, I don't. Sorry. Hadassah reminds me of "harass" and it sounds a bit like "having a loo" in Swedish. I like Esther more.
Tzipporah just makes me think of zippers.
My favorite Jewish names are Jemima, Keren and Kinneret.

I love Hadassah and would have seriously considered it for Eden, but I have a niece named Esther, so wouldn't use it. Tzipporah is nice too, but I prefer the spelling Zipporah or the variant Sephora.

Eden's beautiful! I love Esther as well as Hadassah (obviously), but can see why you couldn't use it! I probably would like Sephora more if it wasn't a popular brand name /:

Thanks, Eden is a beautiful name and absolutely suits her! I was thinking of Hadassah more as a mn, but obviously didn't use it.

I tend to imagine a Hadassah would have red hair, which I think is a character association, but I don't remember from where...It's an okay name, but I don't really like the sound of the *assah part. I'd prefer Esther or Myrtle or Myrthe.I like Tzipporah, though not enough to use IRL. My favorite spelling of it is Tzipora.

not that surprising...We have Jewish people here too. Quite a lot of them.Hadassah is kind of attractive, but Zipporah/Tzipporah I can't like. It just makes me think of zippers and Zippos.

Well of course I know that, I just didn't expect it to be ranked where it's at. Especially when you look at it in comparison to Tzipporah and it's variations that don't rank in the US top 1000 at all, even though it's also a popular Jewish name!

Zipporah isn't as popular (for babies) as you might think-- there were four spellings used in 2016 and all together it's still less than 200 babies.
