It's pretty, but fluffy and cutesy and trendy and won't age at all well.

Not my usual style at all, so it's sort of a guilty pleasure for me. I like it--maybe only because it rhymes with Isla? lol--but I'd never use it. It's ok for someone else, though. I abhor most K names though, esp. made up ones, so I'm not sure exactly why I find Kyla "acceptable". :-/

To me, it's trendy (though not tryndee, unless it's misspelled some ungodly way) and sounds somewhat dull. It's not quite my style, but I don't mind it on other people's kids. I like it best when it's used in honour of an actual Kyle.

I knew a girl at school with this name and thought it was weird when I first met her (it's not at all a common name where I live). It's not that bad but it's a bit council estate and def not something I'd use

Council Flats are low-income housing in Britain. That's how my English friends explained it to me when I asked after watching an episode of Little Britain with Vicky Pollard ("white trash").

I take the meaning of "it's a bit council estate" to me uneducated. It's what we think of as hillbilly names here - you know, Bobby-Sue, Jo-Lou, Susie-Jo, Elmer, Billy Ray, etc...

Ps: Yes, I know of Billy Ray Cyrus, I was in love with him for years but the name still has the "uneducated, poor, and southern" connotation.

I really like the name Kyla. It used to be at the top of my list, and although it isn't there anymore, it's still a name that I really like for a girl. I think it's a very pretty name, and one that you don't hear very often.

Sorry but I really can't stand it! I don't like the sound or the spelling (I doubt It'd like the name no matter the spelling).

It's up there with Kaylie, Kylie, Kayla, Makayla, etc... annoying to my ears.

Know a girl named Kyla. About 19 now, very sweet & pretty. Twin sister's name is Kayla.

Take a look at the US Social Security's list of popular twin names for 2004: http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/twins2004.html. Curiously, it doesn't seem to have b/g twin sets, unless you speculate on the so-called "unisex" names listed.

My personal favourites are Mia and Mya and Jacob and James.

Yes it does - there's more of them down low on the list than up high, though. There's Natalie & Nathan at 20, Jada & Jaden at 57, Emily & Matthew at 85, Emma & Jacob at 86, Zachary & Zoe at 95 and Emily & Ethan at 99.

I guess that parents of b/g twins are less likely to hit on the *same* tacky combination as other parents!

I know we're extra sensitive about "twinny" names (even you can even lump them all in that category) but you have to wonder WHAT people are thinking. We recently had b/g twins at work named Kayden and Kayla. And I thought that was bad enough. :-/

Kyla is a beautiful name. I've only met one person with this name. She's a very nice person and on the quiet side. I picture someone named Kyla as being kind, quiet, friendly, and artistic when I hear this name.
