Help[Opinions] Lana
Lana was one of my favorites when I was a teenager. I just felt like asking about it today because it actually seems to fit in quite well with current trends. It has an old Hollywood glamour association (Lana Turner) kind of like Ava and it is short, ends with the letter A and is kind of simplistic just like many common names right now (Mila, Eva, Luna, Clara).
I pronounce it LAH-nah.
I remember starting to not like the name anymore when I realized what it reads backwards :( Do you think that would be an issue? I remember us playing a game as children all the time where we called each other by our names spelled backwards. It just came up several times while I was growing up. I thought about Lanah or something but that looks just awful to me.
I know that it is the Spanish and Italian word for 'wool' if you are from these countries would that bother you?

I don't dislike it, but it has al ways reminded me of the word llama.

I find Lana sweet and delicate.
In Italy I think it became "popular" (see known) because of a Smalville character and most recently it is known because of Lana Del Rey.
It is quite similar to names such Lara or Mara.
Despite in 2015 there were 9 babies named Lana I think that the link with wool is still too strong (because it is a word).

I don't mind it. I think it's pretty and decent enough. I even like it as a nickname to Alana.
However, the name spelled backwards is more than unfortunate. One of the main reasons for why I wouldn't dare use it. But other than that, it's good.

I love the name Lana!
The name backwards isn't that big of a deal really and to be honest the people focusing on saying a name backwards aren't going to be a factor after grade school.

I think it's a cute name. We didn't call each other by our backwards names growing up, but we did play at switching the letters around; as I recall, we were too young at the time to know what anal meant, but I don't know if kids know today.
I wonder if Lana is used as a name in countries where it means wool. If not, then if I lived there I wouldn't use it.
