Thatcher is- hmm. . . As another post said, it reminds me of Margaret Thatcher. I think it ages a little too well. To me it sounds like a feeble elderly man, unfortunately. Sorry, I don't like

erm...I'm not even English and the first thing to pop into my head was "Margaret Thatcher"... as well as A Knight's Tale (wasn't he a Thatcher or something? Or maybe I'm remembering thatch roofs.... I'm a little confused lol).I think Thatcher could be used as fn as a lot of kids don't know what "thatch" or a "thatcher" or "to thatch" means until they're a bit older... I think adults might be more confused though. I think if Parker can be used, though, why not Thatcher? It's nmsaa but... I have a thing for Bowen so I can't really say anything :-) lol

ThatcherismMargaret Thatcher is all I can think of, which is *not* a good thing in my eyes. (She was self-serving and attempted to destory the welfare state that had been built up for decades, in order to save richer Britons money. She also introduced a flat-tax, meaning millionaires paid the same as those on minimum wage. Ugh. Sorry, rant over!) She is often referred to simply as "Thatcher" in Britain so it's a complete no-go here.I do love Thackery, for what it's worth :-)_____________________________________________________________________Elinor

I immediately think of Margaret Thatcher, but I also think of Thatcher Grey, the name of the father of Meredith Grey, a doctor in "Grey's Anatomy." :)

Love it!I cant picture a sandy haired boy who would be very fun but down to earth. Its one of my favorites. I love names like Archer, Thatcher, Ranger (only for charachters) etc..~~* BEX *~~Surfing is my religion!Image hosting by Photobucket

Margaret.Margaret Thatcher. The association with 80s politics is even stronger with this name than with Reagan. All I think of is Maggie- not a great association. And perhaps quaint roofing types, and those who make and maintain them.Fletcher and Archer have fewer connotations that way, if you like the sound and the style.sa

WDYT of the name THATCHER for a boy? Margaret.Would it age well? I don't like it, so I can't really say. What kind of a person do you picture Thatcher to be? Either Margaret Thatcher, or someone who thatches roofs.

I have a sophomoric, dirty mind, I'm afraid. I hear Thatch, think "snatch," and it all goes to Hell in a handbasket. :/ Sorry! The similar Fletcher doesn't have that problem, so I like it a bit better.I think Thatcher would age well; I just would have a hard time taking his name seriously.Array

Fletcher always reminds me of...the less than desireable slang insult 'felcher,' which is a disturbing reference. :-/

Believe me...what I know about it is vague. But I at least recognize it as being something a kid's name ought not be close to. :-)

It's a sexual practice that's achieved a lot of, ah, notoriety. I won't go into detail, but sufficed to say it'd be a damning reference for a kid in high school.

I normally have a very dirty mind, but I have to admit I didn't think of that. LOL. ...and it all goes to Hell in a handbasketThis cracked me up because I say this quite a bit, and many people find it to be so "old-fashioned". Glad to see a "youngin'" using it, lol. My best friend said it wrong once as '...we're all going to hell in a handbag' so now we often say that, and crack ourselves up. :b (Maybe I need to get out more. LOL.)
