I have conflicting thoughts about it. On one hand, it sounds like somebody saw Esme in a name book and misread it, kind of like the Oprah/Orpah thing. It sounds too made-up for me personally.

On the other hand, it sounds kind of cute, spunky and flapper-like and I'm digging it in spite of myself.

I love it. I feel like I've seen it before but I cannot place it. It was feminine.

My first thought was of Yzma (eez-muh) from the Disney show The Emperor's New Groove. Not spelled the same obviously, but has a similar sound. Because of this I'd see at as female, but I think it'd be cool as a boy's name, too.
