[Opinions] Mahonia
What do you think of this as a name? Pronounced ma-HO-nee-uhIt's the name of a plant which in my region has leathery pointed leaves similar to a holly but gets blue berries in grape-ish clusters. Very pretty, but very sharp. I've had it on my mind a lot as there is a ton in our yard. I don't think I'd use it IRL, but maybe for a female character who initially seems sweet and beautiful so people try to take advantage, but has a harsh defensive streak and shouldn't be messed with.~Anna~

I like it! It sounds cool, almost historical for some reason, and I like nature names in general. And I really like the "pretty but sharp" meaning, like a person who gives everyone a chance but also doesn't take any shit even if they appear overly nice or gullible. "Speak softly and carry a big stick" but different. It would be a good name (or middle name) IRL.Nicknames-- Maho, Nia, Honi, Onia, Oni (to emphasize the "sharp" bit :P), Ma, Monia, Mona, Hona, Mana, Mania, Maia, Mia, Moni, Hone, Ni

Unsure of pronunciation. Is it "ma-HO-nee-uh"?My aunts last name is Mahoney so that's what I think of. It's ok. I love a good plant name so it's def got that going for it.
