[Opinions] Re: Nancy
in reply to a message by Felie
Nancy was one of my two favorite names when I was 10-12 years old. (The other was Ellen.)
Then my brother married a woman named Nancy. I thought she was okay when he was married to her, although my mother didn't like her. But then they divorced and she took his son away from him, so I turned into not a fan of Nancy (meaning the woman, not the name.)
Then there's Nancy Reagan, whom I'm also not a fan of.
Aside from the associations, something about Nancy seems limp and sticky to me. (I also outgrew my affection for Ellen, btw.)
It's not terrible. There are a lot of names out there that are worse. But it's certainly not something I love or would consider using.
It's also very dated in the US.
