Love Keir ("keer"), for the sake of Keir Hardy, the Labour politician. Also, Keir sounds so dashing and handsome, a real heartbreaker. Variants Cary and Ciaran / Kieran are wonderful too, especially Cary.

Kerr ("kehr") is solely a surname to me. I don't see it jumping into personal name land. For some reason people here in the U.S. want to say it as "kahr," like the thing we drive to work.
I have no idea why the "ah" sound. If Kerr is a family surname then it would be nice as a middle name. Other than that, I pass on Kerr.

I prefer Keir over Kerr, but both are wonderful.

I like Keir, which to me is different from Kerr which I also like but not as much. Keir has an Irish vibe and sounds like a rambunctious boy. Kerr is a teen/young adult man who is serious and plans to go into journalism.
