I used to hate it because it made me think of the crab when I was a little girl but as I got older I started to picture a prince or a noble. Then there was the character Sebastian in the second Dragon Age game so now I really picture a person of noble birth only now I view him as a goody two shoes guy who decides to be celibate for religious reasons. lol!I like the name Sebastian but it's long and I don't love any of the nn's. That's probably the main reason it has never become a favorite of mine.I feel like Sebastian would have a brother named Leopold and/ or a brother named Ferdinand. Although I could also see a less princely Sebastian having a brother named Ezekiel or Emmanuel.

Sebastian's brother would totally be named Alexander or Tarquin. Maybe Dominic.

I also see Dominic as a brother for a Sebastian. Sebastian, Ferdinand, Leopold, and Alphonse are princely brothers. Sebastian, Dominic, and Ezekiel are brothers you might actually run into at the park or the grocery store rather than at a grand ball.Alexander feels too common, if it was less common I think Sebastian and Alexander would go very well as brothers. Sebastian is now heading towards becoming a popular name but it needs to get more popular and stay there a while to reach the commonness of Alexander. I feel that Alexander's brother would be more likely Benjamin or Nicholas or Michael or William, etc...Tarquin on the other hand is too unusual and a different feel to it than Sebastian at least imo. I expect a Tarquin to have a brother named Victor or Hector or Mordecai or Moriarty or Hannibal or Vladimir.

It's been a favorite for years! I love the sound! I pronounce it with 4 syllables instead of 3. It's slowly going down my list, however, because of popularity and the American pronunciation makes me cringe! I also am preferring Sébastien to Sebastian these days.

I LOVE Sebastian. I used to not care for it when I was younger. Then I was neutral on it. Then I started to like it because of various character names and a rl acquaintance. Then Sebastian Stan popped on the scene and I just ♥ ♥ ♥.I adore this name now. I like a lot of -ian names, but I think this one if my favourite these days. It's classy without being stuffy. It's stable and solid, but nn options abound. My personal favorite it Basha because it's soft and warm and fuzzy sounding (I'm also a sucker for names like Sasha and Kesha and Grisha.)Anyway, 10/10 would use.

Very nice name. I've liked it for a long time, especially with the nn Baz.The "a$$-chin" thing is making me LOL though.

It's rather a serious sound; very dignified, with perhaps a touch of moustache-twirling. But it's a decent name and one I don't mind hearing in a birth announcement.

It's beautiful and sounds like a Victorian nobleman. My first boy friend was called Sebastian (well, he's still called Sebastian, of course...).

It’s my cat’s name. I personally feel it suits a cat more than a person. :) We pronounce it seh-bass-tee-an rather than suh-bass-chun.He's the one on the right.

Two, really. First, Seb Coe the amazing Olympic athlete from, gosh, a long time ago. There are old videos of the 1980 Olympics out there and he was fantastic. And secondly, my friends' lovely, lolloppy Basset hound.Generally, then, I'm picking up good vibrations!

LOVE it!! One of my favourites. Very handsome.

I've always had an impression that it is sort of like a pseud for a gigolo, or playboy-ish. Like Fabian. I don't know where I got that impression. It faded a little when I ran into little kids named it, who were my kids' classmates. It seems decent enough, maybe a little stuckup because it has no nicknames that aren't hideous. I don't like it because I don't like the sounds, the Sub sound, the asschin sound. But I think it is a decent name and I don't feel judgmental when I hear it.

Lol @ "asschin"!!! I never made that connection myself, but now it'll be hard to get that out of my head!

I used to dislike it, now I think its ok. It's not really my style and it's a bit 'much', but it's handsome. I still don't understand how it's ranked so high in the US though. Regardless it's a decent name.

I looked it up and I'm very surprised to see it at #23 on the US charts! I did not think it was that popular. Personally, I think it's an ok name. Nothing special imo, it's nms.
