[Opinions] Vance
What do you think of the name Vance? At first I thought it sounded to surnamey since there is a well known Vance family with a building named after them in my area, but since my husband and I cannot decide between Victor and Vincent, I thought of Vance. I suddenly really love it, but just today, so who knows if it will last. I haven't asked the husband yet, but I bet he'll like it enough to let me use it since he got his way with our last son's name.

I like it, I say go for it! It would be nice to hear on a little boy :)

If you like it, use it.It doesn't exist as a fn where I live, but Van is a common surname component so that puts me off. In your place, I'd go for Victor all the time.

Vance is annoyingly popular here (along with Van) because of the singer Vance JoyI don't mind it.

I don't know why, but it feels a little romance-novelly to me.

Vance is okay, not terrible but noy my favorite is. It seems like more of a last name to me.

I don't really like it. I guess it's alright though. I don't think I'd blink if I met one. Vance is very surnamey to me, though, and also kinda has a word-ish feeling, since it is part of words (advance, relevance, grievance, observance etc).I'd rather see Victor or Vincent. Or even Vaughn / Vaughan.
I think it might help you decide between Victor and Vincent if you consider the nicknames (Vic versus Vin / Vince).

Thanks. The nickname Vic is my problem with Victor, and Vincent is my husbands preferred name. I'm not sure I like it enough to use it. Vaughn is even more surnamey and just looks ugly.

I think it's pretty cool. In fact, I think I'll add it to my PNL.It does make me think of Vivian Vance, but that's probably just me because I'm an "I Love Lucy" fan. We used to have a poster here called HugeFanOfVivVance and it came out at that time that there were some people who had no idea who Vivian Vance even was. And it's not a bad association at all.
