[Opinions] Isaura
My partner's mother's name is Isaura (ee-zow-ruh). When she came to Canada as a young child it became anglicized - and she now goes by Marie. Ew. What do you think of Isaura? I love it.===

It's ok, but the first thing I thought of is: dinosaur
This isn't necessarily bad though...

I tawt Isaura puddy tat!... is the first thing I think of when I see it. Which is just a curiosity, really. I guess I'd think it was alright if I met one. I'd expect to be dismayed by the number of North Americans who said eye-SORE-a or ih-SORE-a, though. ee-ZOW-ra sounds unattractive to me, personally ... unless I imagine it spoken with the right accent. I think I'd have gone with Marie too, if I were her, just because it's familiar enough not to confuse anyone.- chazda teh breeder!!!1

At first glance, I'd assume it was pronounced ih-SAHR-ah or ih-SORE-ah. But if the "zow" in ee-zow-ruh rhymes with COW and WOW, not sure how I feel about it. :-/ Either way, it's certainly better than Marie, though. :b

I love Marie--I think it's absolutely lovely. Isaura is fine for someone else, but it's not something I'd ever consider.Array

I've never heard of it before. It's very different and unique without being ostentatious. I like it and much prefer it to Marie.
