[Opinions] Timur
This name's been on my mind lately.
WDYT of the name Timur? Do you think it's usable in a Western country?

I like it. Its rough without being clipped and very handsome. I use the Russian pronunciation which I don't think would be too difficult in the Western world.
I like it; it has a solid ring to it. I have a friend named Timur who lives in Kazakhstan (where the name is fairly common). I tend to pronounce it the Russian way, "tyi-MOOR", though I wish I knew how to pronounce it in Kazakh and other Central Asian languages. The variants Temir and Temür are pleasing, too.

I went to school with someone named Timurbek, he told me that the -bek part was a common addition to names from his country and that his name originally was Timur.
It's not a name that I would use, but I don't mind it. It's fairly easy to spell and pronounce, and he went by Tim all the time anyway.
