[Opinions] Re: Italian Names - Girls
in reply to a message by Felie
Hi Felie! Betta -- love it as an NN for Elisabetta, but not on its ownSara -- safe, strong, common, and honestly a little boring. I prefer this spelling, without the H.Valentina -- nice, but maybe a bit too floweryOrtensia -- love it! This is my favorite form of HortenseDoriana -- don't like it -- it seems really trendy to me. Doris or even Dora would be preferable. Anita -- I like it, but most consider it dated. My mom has a close friend with this name, so I associate it with her. Alice (a-LEE-che) -- I love this pronunciation, so much better than the English / French way IMO. This would only work in an Italian-speaking area, though. Marialuisa -- I don't usually like mashup names, but I like Marialuisa. I think of an older, professional woman when I hear this. Gisella -- I really dislike Giselle, but Gisella is marginally better. At least it's spelled correctly. Marinella -- love this as an NN for Marina (which is one of my favorite names)Aurora -- this was nice but is becoming way too trendy. I'd avoid it just for that reason. Chiara (KYA-ra) -- I like it, but it's also way too trendy. Arianna -- trendy. I can't imagine this on anyone over 35. Sarina -- love it as an NN for SaraOlimpia -- love it, and prefer this spelling over OlympiaCatia -- prefer this spelled with a K (Katia)Elena (EH-le-na) -- nice.*previously posted as sunmitseeker*
