Arlo Thomas, born to a good friend of mine through my parents. Thomas is actually his mother's maiden name, so I think its really nice that they got it in there, especially since they couldn't hyphenate the last name (his father's is already hyphenated).
The father's side is from both Spain and Brazil, and I know they wanted a name that would work well in those countries plus the US.

Pretty okay. I'll bet "The Good Dinosaur" made the name Arlo popular.
Or Arlo Guthrie, that old-time country singer!
I don't think it's exactly why, but The Good Dinosaur probably helped give it a boost. A number of celebrities have also been using Arlo on their sons.
I’m much more likely to think of Arlo Guthrie, but I have hippie/folk parents.
Same!
My parents aren't hippies, and I still thought of him! lol
I think so, and yes it will be dated someday. It's unfortunate because it's a really nice name.
it probably doesn't mean much to people today ..
And it was before most of our time on here. But The name sounds almost exactly like Marlo Thomas.

Oh, it's just an actress. I was afraid it was the name of a serial killer or something... ;)
