It's not uncommon here. It was nearly my name, and I wouldn't have minded it: it's brisk and cheerful, old-fashioned but not limp and frilly. Not so keen on most of the nns though.
I can't see it really taking off in the US, as many areas apparently pronounce it hairy-et.
