Nope, it has always been a name that I dislike. It's been super popular for girls here for the past few years, and it just sounds so extremely childish and cutesy. It's really close to the Swedish word for 'fairy' (Älva) and I think that's what makes it so cutesy. I bet there's a ton of Alva's out there with a sister named Tindra ('sparkle'). Eww.
