I like it. I named my daughter Elva and prefer that one over Alva. Somehow Alva feels a little masculine to me. I blame this on ahistorical figure with the NN Alva (Duke of Alba). He once occupied the city I was born in and so Alva has a little negative feeling added to it, that Elva doesn't have. Other than that Alva is a nice name and I doubt anyone else will see it as masculine or see a negative connection to it.

It does have a history as a masculine name, even though it's not really used as one anymore, so it does seem more masculine to me than Elva.
