Ten years have passed. Jake and Marie are now happy grandparents to several children!
Ed married his sweetheart, Laura, and they have three children and a farm of their own to care for. Johnny also married a longtime girlfriend and they have two young children. Johnny apprentices with the doctor, and has been reading as many medical texts as he can get his hands on. Anna, 18, was just married a few months ago and lives with her husband who works a small farm and blacksmith shop. Alice, 17, is in a serious relationship with a young man from the community, but is teaching school until they are married. Henry, 14, has taken over a large portion of the farming and enjoys it, but thinks he'd like to try his hand at raising cattle. Sarah, 9, is the youngest of Jake and Marie's children. She is a sweet, happy child who doesn't need much looking after.
