What do you think of Bruce? When do you think it'll be popular again?

I’m really not a fan of it. I think it will come back, to some extent, when other Baby Boomer names do in 20 years or so.

I kind of like Bruce, but it sounds too tough and harsh.

I think it’s okay. I get why a lot of people dislike it but I also understand why it was popular once upon a time, what those parents thought of it. It’s got a very grandfatherly vibe to it, partially because of when it was popular, of course, but there’s also names common in that age group that don’t give the same feel to me. The Bru sound is ugly, but it’s confident in its ugliness, if that makes sense. But the ce is soft and nice. So it’s like a grizzly bear. A grandpa grizzly bear in a picture book somewhere.
I don’t know when it will become popular again. The 2030s maybe? The 2040s? Or maybe never. Hard to say.

It strikes me as terminally dorky. I can't predict if it will ever be popular again. I'm not a fortune teller, alas.

Bruce is awesome. It needs some love. It's a name that might not have the most attractive sound but I like how it's kind of soft and gentle but still very much masculine and strong.
I do hope it becomes popular again!

Agreed, even though I’m not personally a fan of it. It’s still a solid name and does have that combination of masculinity and softness.

I really hope not. Bruce is one of those extremely dated and unattractive names. Sounding close to the word "Bruise" does not help its case of course.

Bruce is still fairly popular here in Scotland. As for the name itself I’m not a fan. Despite being a Scottish name I think it sounds horrible in a Scottish accent. I like a lot of Scottish male names but Bruce is not one of my favourites.
I like the connotation to Robert the Bruce though (if you are unaware he fought for Scotland to keep their independence in the Scottish wars of independence.) I think he’s a great historical figure and I greatly admire what he did for my nation. So as for connotations go it’s not too bad.

As I'm not an English-speaker I can't tell you if it will be popular or not. In Italy in 2016 less than five babies were called Bruce. So this name exist here too but it is not popular.
I say about Bruce that...it has a horrible sound.
It is immediately linked with fire in my mind because in Italian there is the verb "bruciare" that means "to burn". It is a good, strong link but the sound "bru" has not a good appeal at all.
I prefer other names to honouring Scotland.
