[Opinions] Carol
I'm really starting to like the name Carol. It reminds me of Christmas time which is one of my favorite times of the year and I think it is starting to sound fresh and lovely again.Do you like Carol? Ready for a comeback or not?

I think Carol is lovely, and I’d much rather meet a little Carol than another little Caroline. I don’t think it’s on the comeback quite yet, though.

I guess sound-wise it's not bad. But I have an aunt with the name and I'm not her biggest fan. I could never look at it as more than a whiney, selfish, it's all about me ego.

I've had it on my favorites for a few years now. It doesn't remind me of Christmas. I think it unconsciously reminds me of "color." It gives me a feeling of primary colors - blue and red. Bright and neat. And I just like the sounds K and RL together.I doubt it will come back strongly soon, because I think it still gives many parents an impression of an aging woman. But it's got hipster appeal ... the unfloweriness of it. Could be a sister for, say, Ivy, Sadie, Josie.

I do like the crisp, almost musical sound of Carol although this spelling seems more of a short form than a full name, imo. Overall, I prefer the Carole spelling which I find much more aesthetically pleasing. Is it dated? Yes. Ready for a comeback? Possibly. I've seen names lately that I was certain wouldn't circle back around for a very long time and yet, here they are. And honestly, once I meet a young child with an older, dated classic, it somehow becomes new again.

I really like Carol. My mother's name is Caryl (it was originally Carol, but she changed it), but I actually like Carol more. Not sure it's quite ready for a comeback because it sounds so solidly Baby Boomer right now. Give it another generation, when people may want to name their daughters after their grandmother Carol.

Coincidentally, I was thinking of this name just yesterday. I was looking up which celebrity named his child Buster, so I was looking at a list of what celebrities named their children. Some celebrity, whose name I don't remember, named her daughter Carole. And all of a sudden, as I was looking at it, Carol / Carole lost its dated/Mrs. Brady vibe for me and seemed crisp, crystal clear, and pretty. Suddenly I saw the appeal that it once had for so many.So I think that Carol is one of those dated names that people dislike only because it's dated.

I enjoy the name m'self; the status of "dated" has little consideration with me.

Hi Perrine !!!I'm always surprise to see English names popular in Italy.Carol is one of these as in 2016 were born in Italy 124 of them!Carola (both KA-raw-la or ka-RO-la) is the Italian form of the name as well as the word for that kind of songs. In 2016 were born in Italy 279 Carola.Personally I dislike both because of their sound. I love XMas but these two names are unattractive imo.

I love Carol. It's a clear bright name, and less of a bell tone than Clare. I fought hard for it as the girl name of choice with our first child to no avail. Idk if it needs a full on comeback, but a rise wouldn't be a bad thing.

I like it more for a guy, thb...it'd be similar to Carl (but softer), Kerry (but less whiny), Errol (but less weird/stuffy/anxious), Arrow (but more traditional), or Cairo (but not a place in Egypt). Carol as feminine makes me think of casserole and perms. I'd give it another decade. I hope if it does make a comeback, it's popular as unisex.

I like Carol too. It sounds soft but not frilly and I like the way it looks. Also, it's an easy name to pair with a middle name.

I like it too, it's very soft and pretty, but no-nonsense. I'm not sure it's ready to come back just yet, any more than Susan or Deborah or Linda are. But I like it better than the grim, depressed Caroline that's so popular now.
