Its a wonderful short name (or even formal name for that matter) for a lady
I now tend to consider the name - the aggregate - amidst numerous variations (including Lewis, Louisa, Lois, Lulu / Lu - etcetera) to be more feminine; but I'm happy for males (Louis, Lewis, Louise, or Louise) as well.
