Not a massive fan of Alexandra, it sounds nice and I like it's meaning but just don't like it.

I dislike it. I think it's boring and unattractive. It's also 90s dated, in my opinion. I especially dislike the -andra ending. I don't mind it so much in other names, as in Cassandra, but I find the Alex-part combined with -andra to be rather ugly, sorry.

I also think it will get shortened because it's rather long and I dislike both Alex and Lexi. I like Lexi a little better so I guess that's what I would go with. I dislike Lex, Andra, Sandra, Xandra, Ali and pretty much anything else you could come up with.

I do however really like Alexa. It's shorter so I think it won't get shortened and it doesn't have the -andra part. Alexa is pretty. I guess you could shorten Alexandra to Alexa but that doesn't make sense to me because Alexa works well on its own. It's like Sophia nn Sophie or Maria nn Marie or Helena nn Lena. I don't really like names that work perfectly well on their own as nicknames, just a personal opinion though.

If you like it, go for it. It is 90s dated but still a classic name overall (kind of like Amanda is a classic but 80s dated) and perfectly usable. I just really dislike it.

As a first name, Alexandra is stale and lifeless to me because I grew up with a glut of Alexandras (and Alexanders) nicknamed Alex. As a middle name, however, its mythological cachet coruscates, e.g. Enid Alexandra, Myrtle Alexandra, Winifred Alexandra, Sibyl Alexandra, Gertrude Alexandra.

I prefer the name in full, but if I had to use a nickname, I'd opt for Andra or Andie.

Very classic, and a little bit boring because of being somewhat popular recently, but not as boring as popularity made Victoria seem.

It's a boring classic that people act like it's not boring because it's long and royal. Like Victoria. Alexandra and Victoria, aren't they pampered princesses? Yap yap yap.

The nickname is the issue, really.

Anything but Sandra. I'm bored to tears by all the Alex and Lexie girls, but I don't mind the look or the sound. With Sandra, I can't find anything to like.

A friend of mine is Alexa; not short for anything. Alexa Kirsten LN. I think that's probably the best alternative: ditch the full form and use the nick. Not something I often recommend, but this is a special case.

I love the name Alexandra! It's so pretty! It's got such an elegant sound to it. I don't find it boring at all! I find it very lovely and fancy sounding. It's great!

My favorite nickname is Lexie. It's a little different, and it's got spunk. So much better than Alex.

I love Alexandra. I consider it a classic. It's beautiful. I would use the nickname Lex, but I also like Sacha, Lexi, and Ally.

Alexandra is a classic, classy name. The only thing is, the name Alex is almost unavoidable, even if she's introduced as Alexandra (rarely do Alexandra, Elizabeth, or Victoria go by their full names all the time). So if you wanted to avid Alex, you'd have to introduce her as something else. And personally, I much prefer Alex to, say, Lexi.

I slightly like Alexandria better, but I like Alexandra too. So many good nickname options as well. It's definitely a classic. My favorite nickname for it is Lexi or Lex.

I just don't understand the appeal of this or Alexander. They're underwhelming and unattractive to me. Obviously a great many people disagree. I would call it a classic. I don't know it saw a lot of use before recent times, but it's solid and doesn't feel dated or so common it's lost its oomph.

I like Lexi. Xandra is nice. Alex is okay.

I love it because Alexander/Sandra/Alyx/Sandy are all family names for me. It’s one of our top two names if we ever have another girl, and we’d call her Sandy.

I like Alexandra. It was pretty big in the nineties it seems. It's a nice name and I love the nickname Allie.

I used to love Alexandra as a kid, but now I find it boring. It’s still a timeless classic. Lexie is my favorite nickname.

Classic, I guess.Maybe not boring,but far from unexpected, not that one is always looking for unexpected. I'd be ok being Alexandra, though I prefer my own name.
