[Opinions] Philip
Does this name remind you of the world paraphilia (and other -philia words)?
Does this name remind you of Prince Philip?
Do you think this name is dated or would seem odd on a child born today?http://www.behindthename.com/pnl/87410

No to all three - I'm just reminded of the various Philips I've known. It's a classic name and it's never been really trendy, and it's still in the charts so people are obviously using it on babies.

No, no, and no.

1. No
2. No, and I'm British. I don't think of the other royals when I hear Elizabeth or Charles.
3. I know a few little Phil's who are running around, I don't think it's too dated.

—Not at all. Would never make the connection between a common name like Phillip (Greek for “friend of horses”) and .... that. Of course ancient languages are one of my special interests, so maybe that’s why? But I don’t think they sound similar.—Yes, but that’s not really a bad thing? Honestly I try to avoid the whole royal family thing but *so many* people want to talk about them that it really is just kind of inescapable. —Eh, not really. Philip is a good classic and wouldn’t seem out of place, even though it’s not really “on trend” anymore. And I personally would much rather see Philip than something “current” like Paysyn or Kyngslee or so on.

No, only Ophelia does that for me. Does this name remind you of Prince Philip?
No, but I do live in the US so royal knowledge is less known over here. Honestly, if it came to royals, I think of Prince Carl Philip first.Do you think this name is dated or would seem odd on a child born today?
I think Phil is a bit dated, but Philip is not.

It makes me think of two adult friends: a man named Peter Philip and a woman named Philippa. And, since I know the etymology, it's got a nice, horsey, outdoors feel! I don't think of Prince Philip particularly, or of any of the royals: I suppose his name is more interesting than most.I don't think it's dated. Philippa and I have been buddies since our first year at school, so I find it easy to think of Philip(pa) on any age from six years old to adult. And it's a good name with a long history, and was never trendy though always in use to some extent. So it could work very well on a modern child.

-My cousin has 3 year old Philip, so I'm used to it being used for a toddler.
