[Opinions] Paraskevi

I really like Paraskevi! There's something really chic about it, especially with this spelling.
I've been on a bit of a Greek name kick for a minute now. Not sure if I prefer English versions of ancient Greek names or modern Greek names. They're both great (and there's a lot of crossover between the two categories). I've always loved Paris for a boy, and I also love Thekla, Irene, Irenee / Irini, Helen, Aglaia, Callirhoë, Io, Arethusa, Varvara, Xenia, Angeliki, Efrosyni, Evdokia, Fotini, Nefeli, Kyriaki / Kyriake, Melpomeni, Nomiki, Olympia, Pelagia, Polyxeni, Vasiliki, Sabas, Spiros, Spiridon, Stelios, Tryfon, Apostolos, Zeno, Hector, Homer, and Jason. Also love some international versions of Greek names, like Zoya, Aristée, Aristide, Achille, Aquiles, and Philémon.

oh i love it. i prefer it over Paraskevi- the -i adds so much appeal to me. i wouldn't use it though, since i have no connection to it through heritage or religion (it seems like a very Orthodox Christian thing?)
i'm unsure which is my favorite Greek name- there's SO many, especially ones that have become used in English. i think maybe Berenice? the meaning is lovely. i also love Zoe, Dorothea, Calliope (can't use tho), Iris (unsure if i'd use though but gosh it's so lovely), Galatea, Evanthe, Theodora for girls / Serafim and Evander for boys.

Hi Perrine !!!
My first thought was that these names have a similar sound to Piroska, a Hungarian name that means 'red' and is a variant of Prisca.
I prefer Paraskevi too!
The form with 'e' is too strange and archaic.
I dislike the form with 'a' because too similar to Piroska.
So I pick the Modern Greek Paraskevi!
Enough close to the original language but not too much.
But I would not use It in real Life...I have no ties with it.
I love many Ancient Greek names. One of the Modern Greek that I love is Chrysanthi.

There are a lot of amazing Greek names. Sadly, I don't think Paraskevi is one of them. Reminds me of "skeevy" at the end (and Paraskeva isn't a huge improvement). I'd say the only real advantage to the name is the nickname Voula, which reminds me of Aunt Voula from "My Big Fat Greek Wedding."
