DH [37]: Desmond Malcolm MacShuibhne, 6th Earl of Essex (Nobility)
DW [30]: Gaenor Victoria (Cavendish) MacShuibhne (Landed gentry)
DS [13]: Philip Lawrence MacShuibhne
DD [10]: Rosalind Hester MacShuibhne
DD [8]: Margaret Ruth MacShuibhne
DD [dec]: Cecily Thomasin MacShuibhne
DD [4]: Poppy Leontyne MacShuibhne
DS [2]: Peter Elwyn MacShuibhne
DS [2]: Lael Headley MacShuibhne
It was just a few months after Cecily's birth when another epidemy of smallpox hit the country and three out of four MacShuibne kids were affected as well. While Philip and Margaret pulled through, little Cecily sadly passed away. Desmond and Gaenor were crushed to lose their youngest daughter, no matter how common were infant and young children deaths at that time. Welcoming another daughter just a few months after losing another one was bitter sweet, at moments it felt like they were replacing Cecily with another child which was certainly not true as little Poppy displayed her very different personality from day one. Two years later the couple's twin sons, Peter and Lael, were born completing the family.
