[Opinions] Judy
After watching Jumanji last night i've started to really like the name Judy. I'm not so sure on Judith yet but i don't totally hate it. What's your opinions?
Thanks

Well, Judit is an extremely popular name in Hungary, especially for my generation, so Judith is a bit boring for me. Judy, on the other hand, is sweet, but I'm not sure it would age well. But then, Lucy does, so I don't think an 80-year-old Judy would be such a contradiction.
Budgerigars, ceiling fans, the Times of India are all part of the luggage I brought into the world... Blue Jesus leaked into me; and Mary's desperation, and Joseph's revolutionary wildness, and the flightiness of Alice Pereira... all these made me, too.

I like Judy as well as Judith. My latest name kick is Judith nn Judy, Edith nn Edie, Joan, and Edna. :-)

I love both Judith and Judy, which can probably be blamed on Crosby, Stills, Nash, and (sometimes, lol) Young. All their music is gorgeous, but "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" is one of my favourites. (They also managed to make me like Guinnevere--I'm easily swayed!) Then there's also "St. Judy's Comet" by Paul Simon. (We'll ignore Lesley Gore's "Judy's Turn to Cry," hmm? :)The name Judith is beautiful and musical, and it's a book of the Bible--how could it not be awesome? I love, love, love it. And Judy (or Judi, as in Dench) is sassy in an age of Maddies and Lilys.Array

I really like both of those songs. I have love St. Judy's Comet since I first heard it, but can you believe that I never knew that was the name of the song until I just looked it up? I'm such a genius. : -p

Judith isn't a book of the bible. There's a Joshua, Judges, Jeremiah, Joel, Jonah, John, James and Jude but there's no Judith. What bible are you looking at?!
Maybe you got it confused with Jude?

No, Judith IS a book of the Bible. What bible are you looking at?!I'm Catholic--and if you aren't, I've got eight extra books you haven't. They are, as follows: Tobit
Judith
1 Maccabees
2 Maccabees
Wisdom
Ben Sira
Baruch
Letter of Jeremiah If none of those sound familiar to you, it's likely because you are neither Catholic nor Orthodox Christian. The book of Judith is a dramatic parable of sorts--there are numerous anachronisms in it, so it's generally not accepted as a reliable history. You can read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_judithOr you can pick up a Roman Catholic Bible.Array

My hated health teacher this year is named Judy, so I have horrible associations to this name. That said, I think that the "y" sound makes it cute on a little girl, but I don't know how it would age.

Start calling her Judith. : -)My mom went by Judy as a young girl, then Judi as she got older. (Not anymore)
