[Opinions] Ingeborg and Ardelia
I've bolded my main questions, in case you have no interest in reading my ramblings about why I like this or that name. :)I have to admit it: I think Ingeborg is neat. It is to my Norwegian heritage what Christian is to my Swiss: Ingeborg was the first of my Norwegian ancestors to come to the United States. It was also my great-grandmother's first name (the first Ingeborg was her grandmother, making Ingeborg 1 my...great-great-great-grandmother?), so I feel strong ties to it.The only problem is that Ingeborg seems like the sort of name the average elementary schooler would make fun of. Perhaps not in my hometown, where it's not uncommon to see Sigrid, Ingrid, Nils, Lars, Signe, etc, but in the world at large? I'm not sure Ingeborg would work. What do you think? Would little Ingeborg be made fun of? Should I save it as a middle name--Solveig Ingeborg or something? (I don't at all like Inge as a full name, so shortening it wouldn't be an option. And while I like Ingrid a great deal, I wouldn't feel as though I was using a family name, you know? So neither of those are options.)Also, how do you feel about Ardelia Ruby? It's very similar to my great-great aunt's name (Ruby Cornelia), without being exactly hers reversed. My youngest sister is also a Ruby, so it would be for her as well. What do you think of Lyle Ray, Juniper Sara, and Ardelia Ruby? ;DArray

I don't think she'd be made fun of, but I think the name sounds clunky and ugly. Also, unless she looked Scandinavian (pale with light blonde hair and light blue eyes), it would seem a little out of place.I don't like Ardelia Ruby at all (surprise...), but it sounds nice with the other names.

Ingeborg is a wonderful name. Very colorful and loaded with history and meaning. But I would still save it as a mn. Solveig Ingeborg is a lovely combination. Cornelius is a family name for me, so I'm biased. But Cornelia Ruby shines as a name. Cornelia has strength and character, not to mention the cute nn Nell. I'd much rather see Cornelia Ruby than Ardelia Ruby. It's sweet to want to use your little sister's name as a mn. :-)

I *love* Ingeborg. I can't really say whether they would get made fun of or not, as I go back and forth betweent the two options. Ardelia Ruby is beautiful, and goes well with Lyle Ray, and Juniper Sara______________

Proud Aunt to: Kathleen Asdis Svanhildur and Jillian Bryndis Hanna

I think an Ingeborg would be made fun of (at least where I live). Solveig Ingeborg is better, IMO. Ardelia Ruby is lovely though. Don't like Lyle Ray, though. Juniper Sara is nice, too.

If you think that Ingeborg might be made fun of, you could make it the middle name, or use Inge as a shorter version for the first name. Just a suggestion :)
