[Opinions] Jennifer

I've always been neutral towards this name but now I think it has begun to grow on me. I mean sure, it is overused and has its fair share during the 80's and 90's. Some might even say the name has a 'stigma' attached to it but I think it sounds nice-pleasant even. I would choose it over 'Jessica' personally. Not that I would consider using either name though.WDYT?

I like Jennifer, it isn't dated in the UK in the same way it is in the US. I know a few elderly Jennifers. I really like Jenny. I also like it as a middle name, especially in the combo Rose Jennifer.

I definitely like the name - as a new American classic of the English Guinevere or any of the numerous variants. I happen to enjoy the nickname 'Gwen' - and I do not find it a stretch for Jen (Jenn) to be Gwen if she likes - or any of the numerous reversals or inversions.

Sometimes I think it’s cute, sometimes I think it sounds weird. I don’t get how it’s so popular - it strange sounding yet nice. I do like Jessica more!

I've always really liked it, not a favourite but definitely up there. Definitely prefer it over Jessica.

Hi !!!Both were trendy also here in Italy in 1990s but are decreasing.Jennifer was given to 194 babies becoming #147 most used in 2016.
Jessica was used for 137 babies becoming #194 most used in 2016.Sincerely I dislike both.
They have a tacky/trendy vibe here.I much prefer Guinevere, Gwyn and Gaenor.

I'm neutral leaning towards dislike. The *ifer sound doesn't appeal, and I'm not fond of any of the Jennifers I've met.But Jen is a nice sound, and I like Jenny as a middle name.

I'm with you. It's grown on me and it appeals to me more than Jessica. Part of the reason I like it is that I love Jenny. I've always thought it was cute. Another reason is that I've known so many great Jens. If you're a Jen, I'll probably think you're great. It's weird. Plus Jennifer has a pleasant sound when I really think about it. I really can see why people liked it so much.

I prefer the sound of Jessica, but I like Jennifer because I've known so many nice Jennifers. So many! To me the only "stigma" is from it being so common. I think it won't seem dated until after it has fallen completely out of use for a while - but even then I think it'll be an OK kind of dated, like Sharon or Julie, as opposed to an unappealing kind of dated, like Deborah or Doris.

Both Jennifer and Jessica were over used so much that I have difficulty thinking of the name in terms as a single entity rather than as a mass. I like the fact that Jennifer ends in 'r.' There are too few girl names with this ending that it is refreshing (if there weren't millions of Jennifer's). Gwenivar is an interesting alternative.

On its face, Jennifer is a nice name, with a melodious sound. I can see how / why it became so popular. However, it needs to take a nice long sleep.

Jenny is a nice nickname, but I've never liked the "fer" ending of Jennifer. It's a name that was massively popular when I had a daughter but one that I never would have considered using even if it hadn't been popular.
