[Opinions] Thoughts on Lauren
Replies
It's extremely dated and I'm sick to death of it. It's a name I never thought of until I met a million young women named Lauren, so I don't know how I'd feel about it if it hadn't been so popular. But I think it's usable. If I heard of a baby being named Lauren today, I'd roll my eyes, but that doesn't make it unusable.
I meet a young girl named Loren-yes, spelled this way!
If I were to name through a variant of Laurence - I'd chose Lauren, allowing the person (child) to naturally reveal her own 'pet name / short name / informal name' preference (Laura, Laurie, Lance, Laurence--anything) - even if the choice lengthens the formal version.

Definitely still usable. I like it a lot, for a first or middle name.
I love Laura too, but Lauren is a bit more stylish and less "classic." Not fond of Laurel, it doesn't roll smoothly off the tongue.

I was born during the Lauren craze and I was so in love with the name as a child. I wanted to be a Lauren so badly.
In retrospect, I'm glad I'm a Caroline rather than a Lauren, but I still have a thing for Lauren. It's just so pretty to me. It's a kind of guilty pleasure light for me. I seriously doubt I'd use it irl, but if I had to I might be secretly glad?
I love Laura and Laurel more for real life, but if the name weren't so dated I'd think Lauren was the best version.
Just no Lauren Elizabeth. I've known soooo many. It's so boring.
