[Opinions] Ludmila
What do you think of this name? Thoughts on Lída as a nickname, or would that be to associated to Lida Baarova, the actress who was Joseph Goebbels mistress during World War 2? Does this name sound to Russian or Eastern European?do you prefer Lyudmyla, Lyudmila, or Ludmilla or another spelling?"Life is not an easy matter... You cannot live through it without falling into frustration and cynicism unless you have before you a great idea which raises you above persona l misery, above weakness, above all kinds of perfidy and baseness." - Leon Trotsky

Ludmila is a very beautiful name with pretty meaning. Lída is a nickname for girls in the Czech Republic. My country finds in Central Europe.Lída Baarová was a beautiful and good actress. Her sister is Zorka Janů - also beautifully and much better actress than Lída.I prefer of version Ludmila but Ludmilla is good too. In my country have a version Lidmila.Lyudmila sounds too Russian. If you don't have Russian/Belarussian ancestry,

I adore it! It's earthy, rich, and tender. Lída is a lovely nickname, and I don't associate it with Goebbels's mistress (whom I'm not familiar with). Ludmila is my favorite spelling/transliteration.

Ludmila is pretty dated here, but it's the name of one of the earliest Czech Saints, so it has a historial and national quality to us. Most Ludmilas here go by Lída, it's not only for Lída Baarová, even though most people would first think of her as she's the most famous Lída out there. I don't think many English speaking people are familiar with her life so I think it's safe to use. To my ears, Lyudmila is the most pleasant sounding variant of the name.
