I like Clare and Glinda / Glenda, but with Clarinda, the rend sound bothers me. If I really wanted an elaboration of Clare, I'd prefer Claremonde or some variation of that.

I don't know why, but it seems clunky to me. I say, "I don't know why", because it's not that different from Melinda, is it, and I don't find Melinda clunky. But as Billy Joel said, "There doesn't have to be a reason anyway."

I really like Clare, so Clarinda seems needlessly ornate; plus, it hasn't been remotely fashionable since the 18th century! Which tells me something about its durability and charm ...

Yes!

When I was much younger, there were elderly identical twin sisters in this town who used to dress identically (in pink!) and were never seen apart. These are not they, but clearly they were not alone in the universe.

I prefer Clorinda to Clarinda.

Clorinda is a tragic, important character in Italian poem 'Jerusalem Delivered' written by Torquato Tasso in 1581. Probably the name Clorinda was created by him.

Clarinda seems just a cutesy and quite snobbish form of Clara.
