Maybe as a nickname, but I don’t like it as a real name.

I would never ise it but I kinda like it.

It's okay. It was the name of Pat Boone's oldest daughter. Actually, it was a nickname, her full name being Cheryl. But I only just recently discovered that when some insults aimed at Boone and his daughter Debby (Deborah) caused me to look into his life and career more than I ever had before. (Meaning not at all.) Few people know her full name. so it may as well be Cherry. Anyway, the name always makes me think of Cherry Boone and her bulimia. LOL. Which might not sound like a great association. Actually, it's a neutral association, I have no feelings about her one way or the other. I mention her because the fact that it was the name of the daughter of a famous, white-bread, straight-arrow Christian pretty much negates all of the criticism I've seen in the previous responses, as far as being on a par with Apple, Orange, being a stripper name, or cheap. To me, of course.

It's okay, if a little dated. It's close enough to 'cheery' to feel quite upbeat, and I don't find it stripperish at all - just a normal, not overused name. I've met two, both over 60, so I think of it as an older person's name, but it would be perfectly usable on a baby and refreshingly different.

My mum’s nn is Cherry, and I quite like it, so I’ counting it as a family name and have it in the middle. I’d probably keep it as a nn or middle, although I don’t think it’s terrible as a first. I’d love to meet a Cherry!

Well, I wouldn't use it, but could be worse. Not only do I know a Persimmon, full disclosure, I'm related to her.
I do know an adult Cherry, age about 65.

Stripper name.

It manages to be cheap, cutesy, and dated at the same time. I do kind of like SHerry/Shari/Sherri and Cherie.

I can't take it seriously. I've met one or two in my lifetime, but it's pretty much on par with naming your child Apple or Orange or Banana to me. And then to add the sexual overtones that "cherry" has that the others don't, I'd steer very clear of it. If I had to use it, it would be time to adopt a pet to saddle with that one.

I like the sound and the tree, but it makes me think of food and innuendos. I think it's usable but borderline OTT cutesy.
