I discovered this medieval gem while combing Wikipedia for information about famous bearers of the name Tancred. Fressenda was one of the wives of Norman lord Tancred of Hauteville (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tancred_of_Hauteville); the name was also given to one of his daughters. I love Fressenda's ebullience and stateliness. What do you think?

It is very pretty and I like it. My favorite from the list is Fressenda Violet.

You always find hidden gems and reach to describe them as they were the most beautiful names ever.
I looked for other forms of it but this one is the best variant because it Is the most Italian-like among the others.
Fress- reminds me something fresh and the colour red as 'fresa' is'strawberry' in Spanish. So it has a joyful spring-summer vibe like a rare fruit or flower.
The -nda end reminds me something aristocratic like the names Wanda, Cunegonda, Miranda, Glenda..all princess-like names in my mind.
So Fressenda Is perfectly Medieval when a lot of names were long, mature and dignified but very creative!

A little research suggests it's Ancient Germanic in origin and the meaning is something along the lines of 'strong peace' - other forms were Fredesende / Fredesendis. The sound doesn't appeal to me particularly, but it's an interesting find.

Yes, I read that it's related to Frideswide (one of my long-time favorites), which surprised me.

Frideswide is also a long time favorite, but I like Fressenda even more.
