[Opinions] Revolution
Hi!
What do you think of Revolution for a boy? I don't love the name. I just want to hear your opinions.
"They can say they can say it all sounds crazy. They can say they can say I lost my mind. I don't care I don't care if they call us crazy."

This name was used in France during the French Revolution. It would take getting used to, but I feel like I could also get used to it.
Honestly. It makes me think either of wheels, in which case it's awkward or of massive political upheaval where people are killed, and even if the change for the majority is positive it still leaves me with a heavy heart. So even as a GP I'm out.
Rev would be a cute nickname. Or Lu.

If I saw Revolution on a kid, I'd probably think the parents were communists or anarchists or something. It's a word that has very strong political connotations, so it wouldn't be a good idea to use as a name.
It actually kinda makes me think of those weird names that communist parents in the Soviet Union created. (I'm surprised that no one's brought up the Russian Revolution in the comments even though two people mentioned the Cuban Revolution.)

Sorry, but...no. Definitely not.
(Although I love Les Misérables...and Phantom, btw.)

It just means turnover. If it were contextually obvious which specific "revolution" were referred to, it might be namey, but otherwise I think it's not.
Revolution for what? As a name it comes across as a rebel without of cause. Just revolting for the sake of it, is pretty empty headed. If you want to honor a revolutionary or cause, then name the child after someone or something meaningful.
Well, let's see, once I get done laughing hysterically at the concept... Nope, still just want to laugh.
Utterly absurd and awful name.

Not a fan, sorry. Reminds me of the earth revolving around the sun and then the American Revolution, French Revolution, Cuban Revolution, Spanish revolution, all sorts of wars even though a Revolution doesn't have to be a war.
Unless he's the son of Cuban freedom fighters circa 1960, it's lame.
It doesn't work. It sounds violent. And has no good nicknames, yet is a mouthful to say multiple times a day, every day.
Hi Phantom Actress !!!
I understand the fascination as you love Les Misérables and then a revolution is also a hope of something new and better but Revolution is really too long and wordy to be used.
Unfortunately it would seem the title of a video game (I guess that there are a ton).

Yeah, my first nonviolent association was Dance Dance Revolution (video game).
It's a GP of mine. I wouldn't give it to an actual boy. I actually named one of my punctuation pets this, bc I think the words sound very good.

I generally try to give word names the benefit of the doubt, but that one would be terrible.
I'd prefer to see (and/or be called) Change.

Impossible to take seriously.
It’s like naming a child chaos or anarchy. Revolt and rebellion aren’t exactly the characteristics most people hope for their children. It’s strange, too strange. It would be a bother to the child.
Um...a ridiculous sounding name for anyone. Honestly.
I wouldn't even recommend it as a middle name, for a beloved pet or story.
It just doesn't work whether in reality or in fiction or theory.
