[Opinions] Renaissance
Hi !!!
I've just found in the submitted database the name Renaissance (girl).
WDYTO this name?
I checked for it through the boards and here I have a list of combos made by few users:
Renaissance Ailionora
Renaissance Pearl
Renaissance Allaire
Renaissance Morwen
Renaissance Idony
Renaissance Alys
Renaissance Mira
Renaissance Isla
Any other idea?
I personally think that Renaissance sounds far better than Renata and Renée that seem dated and plain.
I know it's a word but has a beautiful, refined, soft sound!

To me, it sounds like a boy's name - a boy with frilly cuffs and and a Puritanical upbringing
Since this is one word I can never spell correctly, I’m going to have to give this name the thumbs down.
Be prepared for this to get deleted. There are some names I have submitted that were deleted because I guess they were too rare.
Well, I submitted it after trying to submit other more "real" names that didn't show up in the search tool bar, but it told me someone has already submitted them. People with this name are few, but still I liked Renaissance enough to add it. :D I love the sound and I think it was an interesting era that had a lot in common with the time we're living in today. I see it as a more fancy alternative to Renee (which is dated in the US) and Renata (even more dated in my homeland). My favorite combos would be Renaissance Victoria or Renaissance Mary. I also like Idony and Morwen! Not sure if I'd be brave enough to use it as a FN, but as a MN it's totally fine IMO and I'd love to see it used IRL.
I am Polish and grew up around a lot of Polish people, so Renata is just dated to me. I don't like any of the ren names. I usually like word names but this one does nothing for me.
I rarely say or think this (generally I try to stay away from thinking names are pretentious!)... but it sounds pretentious to me. It does have a very cool sound though, and if there was a personal meaning for the parents I’d say “how lovely”. :)
I personally prefer Renata. To me, it is beautiful and unusual. But I live in the PNW USA... lots of Renee, less Renata.

I like the sound of it and it has a nice uplifting meaning. I get the appeal, but wouldn't consider it as a real name. I like it the same way I like Revolution, Troubadour or Carillon. Lovely sounds and vibes to me, but strictly in the realm of GP. For the record, this is the sound I love: https://forvo.com/word/renaissance/#fr. I've heard different pronunciations, but I like it most with this sound.
If I'd met a girl named Renaissance, I'd think the parents were trying too hard. On the other hand, it's way better than many names like Nevaeh (or worse Neveah), Emersyn or Mckinley. I'd rather be called Renaissance any day.
Combo suggestions:
Renaissance Valentine
Renaissance Juliette
Renaissance Philomel
Renaissance Amélie
Renaissance Magali
Renaissance Nathalie
Estelle Renaissance
Valerie Renaissance
Ophelia Renaissance
Philomena Renaissance
Séraphine Renaissance
I wouldn't pair with anything too short, bc then the combo feels off balance to me.
PS. You've misspelled Renaissance 7 times in your post ;)

Hi !!!
I perfectly agree with you for the first part of the post!!
Renaissance Philomel !!! What a lovely combo !! It is my favourite! It's the first time that I see Philomel but I've just read that it is literarian and poetic!
I also love them with Amélie, Magalì, Estelle, Ophelia and Séraphine!
Opppss!!! Sorry for the mistake! I immediately correct them! It is a typo!

If you don't mind the prejudice people tend to have against unusual word names, I think it works well. It reminds me of Genesis, except the connotations are primarily historical rather than religious.

Even when it comes to the word I’m not sure I’ve ever heard two people pronounce it the same way. REN-uh-sonse? reh-NAY-sonse? French nasal n in the last syllable? Fully pronounced English n?
Getting past that, though, it’s a bit much for a name.

I acually just listened to the progressive folk/rock group Renaissance and thought of what a beautiful word it is!
I wouldn't use Renaissance for real, but I love it as a GP. Perhaps you could call her Rennie or Renée.
