[Opinions] Re: Birth Announcements
I wonder if the education tendency to encourage using one's imagination, even if one hasn't really got one, might have sparked off at least some of the odder combos. London Mary? Sounds like the title of a 1910 novel about how Country Girl Makes Good And Gets Her Man In The Capital Of The Empire. Birdie Lane is an address, pure and simple. Addilyn Elaine is so disconcerting, with its almost-rhyme. Winslet Faye seems Oriental, with the surname coming first. Eve Emmanuel is theologically delightful. And I looked at Riley Anne Raneigh for a long time - deploring the Riley, applauding the Anne and wondering if Raneigh should be Raleigh - before I heard it in my head and it made Renee. And then I just felt sad.Brooks, Beckham (lots of little ones everywhere), Braxton, Beauden (New Zealand rugby fans?), Barron and Brighton seem to suggest that a fashion for B names could be dawning. And, to balance Braxton, there's actually a Thaxton! What next?
