Surprisingly, it's been used here in South Africa, though not often, and the youngest one I've encountered must be 70 by now. Even more surprisingly, it's been used by Afrikaans speakers - it sounds like the Afrikaans word for 'garbage' or 'rubbish'. I quite like it, but not enough to use; certainly not in this country.
