I like names that are unusual without being too weird, and am not sure where Alberta belongs from this point of view, or if it’s too reminiscent of the Canadian province.
I’m not sure I’d want to use it on my own child but it would be cool to meet a little Alberta.

It's both too provincial and too dated. The next sibling ought to be either British Columbia or Mary Bernadette.

I don't have an issue with place names. I don't think it's too weird at all. However, I would never use Alberta because the province of Alberta just elected a horribly homophobic, racist, awful person. And that's what I think of when I hear Alberta. I also think of oil sands and the horrible atrocities committed by the Canadian government against Indigenous communities. Same reason I can't stand the name Harper.

I love Alberta. It was my great-grandmother's name and she was a real spitfire.
I barely remember the Canadian province association most of the time, but every time I mention it to DH it's his first comment.
That said I suspect most people would still find it dowdy or ugly in the US.

Alberta is just boring in my opinion. It is among those feminine forms of well-known masculine names that I prefer to see only on women (age 30s-40s) and not on children.
In this bunch there are Alberta, Roberta, Daniela, Raffaella, Gabriella, Stefania, Marcella, Michela (...).
They are not the worst names ever.. but they are boring and flat in my opinion.

I know plenty of women with the names you mention but never an Alberta of any age, actually.

NMS but I'd like to see it. Doesn't make me think of the province, but I'm not Canadian. It is unusual, but not in a "unique" way of that makes sense, it's just a very old-fashioned name that doesn't get used much anymore.

I'm not Canadian, so I don't immediately think of the province. Not sure how odd it would be for a Canadian to hear, but I'm sure it varies just like whenever I hear "state" names.
Like Georgia and Virginia I immediately think state (and probably an older lady), but with Carolina I would assume girl. And that's coming from someone who lives next door. Also, I've met at least three people with the name Dakota: two boys and one girl.

Even if it weren’t for the province, an extremely prominent association, the sound is ugly. It sounds like a burp.
