What do you think of Syrén?
It is a Swedish name meaning "lilac".
It reminds me also the English word 'siren'.
Is it used in Sweden?
And what about it as an English variant of siren?

I love the meaning, and the pronunciation is lovely, but it's too close to the mythological creature to be usable for me. Pity.

Syrén would be cool for a character. It definitely makes me think of siren. If I just saw "syren" I'd think it was a fictional creature that was basically a siren.

My family has a history with the fire service. "Syren" reminds me of "fire siren" not "mythical Siren". I wouldn't use it simply because it looks so much like the word 'siren'.
