[Opinions] Kylo
I met a girl who calls herself Kylo. I have no idea what her birth name is.
WDYT of Kylo?
Hmm. Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

I think it's fine for a boy. I like a lot of modern/trendy names, so I don't have a problem with it. To me it's masculine though and I'm not sold on it for a girl.
1) Its dumb on her, since if she calls herself that it obviously was post-Star Wars and everyone will know its not her real name.
2) I actually really like the sound of Kylo, and its unfortunate its so closely associated with Star Wars to be usable without, "Are you Star Wars fans?" being said every time a person hears the name.
3) It would have made more sense if her name were Rylo.

It sounds like some sort of a toy, such as a hula hoop, or one of those bats with a ball attached on an elastic.
Isn’t this the name of the new villain from Star Wars (haven’t seen any of the new films)?
As far as trendy and modern names go, I actually don't mind 'Kylo' someone who may have liked the sound of 'Kyle' but wanted something a bit different. I don't like it on a girl though.
Hi !!!
I'm not a Star Wars fan at all. Actually I saw just one film The Phantom Menace and it bored me so much that I didn't see any other part.

It looks like Kilo, and sounds like 1990's kids calling their friend Kyle, with a slightly sarcastic edge to it.
It’s bad enough for a boy, but it’s awful on a girl. The first time I heard the name of the Star Wars character I thought it sounded like a surfer couple thought Kyle was too mainstream for their kid, but had no actual imagination and just stuck a trendy -o on the end.
It seems like short -o names are everywhere these days. I know a baby Milo, a baby Otto and a baby Arlo personally, and I’ve heard people seriously considering others like Leo, Enzo and Ludo. They’re not awful, but they’re not my style.

If it weren't for the association of the character, it would sound like it was trying to be a hip, modern version of Kyle, which is two strikes against it. The character that is the source of the name is not so much a third strike as it is just blowing up the baseball diamond. Not only is he an unrepentant villain, but the name itself is a symbol of his rejection of his family and turning to the path of evil. With that understanding (and the fact he killed his father ) parents giving this name to their children is rather laughable. But someone choosing to identify themselves with it later in life is just... yikes.
It's even more completely silly on a girl.
