I like it quite a lot; but in English it rhymes with Laura, which I would love to use for a daughter, so I've never really given it much thought.
I think I'd rather use Eleanor, or Elinor. The nn would probably be Ellie rather than Nora, but that's the chance you take.
And when my daughter was tiny, she had a picture book about a family - can't remember the story line or who they were, but their ln was Bone and there were twins called Laura (which is fine) and Nora (as in Gnaw A Bone?!). They wore bibs: one read 'Hi! I'm Laura' and the other 'Hi! I'm Nora'. Gave me a lot of pleasure.
