So cute! I would love to meet a little Polly. I think traditional mns work, as do names that are more unusual. I guess it depends what you want. I quite like Polly Kate, Polly Imogen, Polly Esme, Polly Mae, Polly Matilda, Polly Arianna, Polly Violet, Polly Matisse, Polly Jemima, Polly Jane, Polly Jasmine, Polly Ruth, Polly Tabitha and Polly Arden are all nice.

ONLY as a nickname. It’s very childish and polarizing, so you might want to give her options. What about one of these with Polly as a nn?

Polly seems rather childish to my way of thinking. I do have a relative in my family tree whose name is listed as Mary Polly on a census. I'm thinking that Polly is a nn in this case. Also, I've only known one person around my age with this name and she told me the comments she has received over the years have been largely positive.

I've always liked Polly; partly I think because it was a family name, back in the 19th century, and senior relatives who remembered that Polly spoke very highly of her. She was named after, I think, her grandmother who was Eleanor Mary or Mary Eleanor. Either way, Polly was a nn for Mary, not a name in itself.

The alternative would be Molly, which I really dislike intensely in spite of a delightful Aunt Molly, from the other side of the family. The parrot connection doesn't bother me one bit, perhaps because I mostly use human names for dogs and cats.

Given enough daughters, in an alternative universe, I think I'd use Polly as a mn. Tessa Juliet Polly rather pleases me!

It's cute, but I prefer it as a nickname for something more substantial. It would be a nice nickname for Paula or Paulina.

Hate Polly both a a full name and nickname.

I just hate it. I think because it always makes me think of a parrot. I'm not a huge fan of Molly, but I'm okay with it. Polly, though....uh uh.

Polly sounds pretty childish to me. Molly does too.
Also sounds like Pauly in my accent. And like "poly" as in polyamorous, which does not sound good to have as a name.
I'm not a fan but it's still better than Molly.

I'd give it a long frilly middle name. And stay away from Esther, and Andrea, and Mer-names, and anything that starts with P, and anything like Amity or Emery that sounds like -amory, etc.

It's cute but I'd only name a pet Polly or use it as a nickname for someone close since I'm sure any kid named Polly has heard "Polly want a cracker?" a million times from their peers

It's frumpy and dowdy, and is kind of like Fluffy or Rover for parrots
